Privacy notice
Updated on July 27, 2026
This notice explains how the jconfig.app site handles personal data. It is short because we collect little.
Who is responsible
JConfig is an independent project maintained by an individual. For anything related to personal data, including the requests described below, write to [email protected].
What this notice covers
It covers the site: the pages you are reading, the waiting list form and the browser installer. The app installed in the vehicle is a different matter — it keeps your settings in the car itself and, when checking for updates, makes a request to the release server; as with any download, that request carries the IP address and the installed version.
What we collect
Nothing beyond what the two things this site does actually need — installing the app and telling you about Premium:
- Your email, if you join the waiting list, along with the page language and the date and time of consent.
- A record of each installation started: date, the installer’s fixed source, language and the version offered. Nothing that identifies who installed it.
- A fingerprint of the IP address, never the address itself: we keep only the result of an irreversible calculation whose key changes every day. It tells accesses apart without telling us whose they are.
- Aggregate statistics of pages visited, through our own Umami install — no cookies and no browsing profile.
On what legal basis
Brazil's LGPD requires a basis for each kind of processing. We rely on two:
- Consent, for the waiting list email. That is why there is a box to tick — and why it never comes pre-ticked.
- Legitimate interest, for aggregate download and visit metrics, which exist to understand what works in the product and cannot identify you.
Cookies
The site uses no tracking or advertising cookies. There are no third-party scripts on the pages either: fonts are served by us and audience measurement runs on our own server.
Who we share it with
No one. We do not sell, rent or pass data to advertising partners. The site and the database run on a server under our administration, and the database is not exposed to the internet.
How long we keep it
The waiting list email stays until Premium launches or until you ask for removal, whichever comes first. Download records and visit statistics, since they identify no one, are kept in aggregate form.
Your rights
The LGPD guarantees you at least the following over your data. To exercise any of them just write to [email protected] — a removal request is honoured without questions.
- Know whether we process data about you and get a copy of it.
- Correct incomplete, inaccurate or outdated data.
- Ask for the deletion of data processed on the basis of consent.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without justification — in practice, leaving the waiting list.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and the database accepts no connection from the internet. No system is infallible, which is precisely why we store as little as possible: if something leaks, little leaks.
Changes to this notice
When Premium goes live, this notice will change to describe the handling of payment data. The date at the top of the page always shows the last revision.
